Wallace, Jan 6 -- Suffering an attack while working about the barn at his farm, four miles north of Wallace Monday morning shortly after 9 o'clock, John Livegood, aged 89, a life-long resident of this community died before medical aid could be summoned. He managed to call out for aid after being stricken and the housekeeper at the Livengood home, a Mrs. Bever, heard him and rushed to his aide. He died a few moments later, about 9:15 o'clock. Mr. Livengood had been in ill health for several years.
He was born Oct 3, 1846 in Jackson Township Fountain County, the son of Andrew and Mary A. Purnell Livengood and on December 12, 1872 was married to Clarinda Philpott. He was a member of the Prairie Chapel Church and had spent his entire life in this vicinity. He is survived by his wie, one son, Omer Livengood who lives a short distance from his late father's farm; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Grimes who lives on the Perrysville Road south of HIllsboro and Mrs. Edna Morris of Waynetown; a brother, Solomon of near Wallace; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Lowe of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Because the widow has been in very ill health and is very feeble, the funeral will be held from the home at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. John Servies. - John Livengood, 89, a life long farmer residing on a farm on the Wallace-Hillsboro road south of Hillsboro, died shortly after nine o'clock Monday morning. He had been in declining health for the past few years and suffered an attack while at the barn. His cries for aid were heard by Mrs. Beaver, their housekeeper, who rushed to the barn, but he died a few minutes later before medical aid could be summoned. He was born in Jackson township, Fountain county, on October 3 1846, the son of Andrew and Mary A. Purnell Livengood. He was married to Clarinda Philpott on December 12. 1872, and they had spent all their married life in the vicinity where he died. He was a member of the Prairie Chapel church. Surviving are the widow, one son Omer Livengood, who resides a short distance from the home place; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Grimes of south of Hillsboro and Mrs. Emma Munns of Waynetown; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother Solomon of near Hillsboro and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Lowe of Indianapolis.
